FAQ’s

Q: I have always wanted to professionally photograph my dog but it is very reactive, can I still go ahead?

A: Yes, you can. Carl will have discussed your dog and its needs at length during your consultation. Be assured, your dog’s well-being and safety is always paramount and we take all precautions necessary to ensure you have a great and safe experience with us. Carl’s very experienced and you’ll decide together about which locations/packages are the most appropriate options for you. And, for that extra level of protection and comfort, leashes and leads can be kept on during the shoot and re-touched out in post production.

Q: What if my pet misbehaves and won’t sit still etc?

A: Don’t worry about this at all. It’s a photographer’s job to work with a bouncy, excitable dog. Also, the photo’s are usually better when they are doing their thing - whatever that may be! Carl’s well versed in dog behaviour and he and his team will walk you through how they will help get the most out of your dog’s ‘modelling debut’ on the day.

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day and I have booked a location shoot?

A: We all know that weather in the UK is tempremental. Carl has over 30 years location photography experience, so your shoot will have been scheduled, as much as it can be, on an appropriate day. As long as it’s dry and Carl feels there is enough light your shoot will go-ahead. If the weather takes a turn for the worst, then we will of course reschedule.

Q: How long does a typical session last?

A: A location shoot will last up to two hours (depending on your dog’s energy levels and overall comfort). We don’t want them to feel rushed over overwhelmed so this is the ideal amount of time. A studio shoot will last up to an hour.

Particularly with location shoots you may be asked to arrive a little earlier so Carl can meet your dog and get to know them. This will not cost any extra, and will help things run more smoothly when the shoot begins.

Q: I am worried that I won’t be able to afford it and there will a ‘hidden’ hard sell at the end. how does it all work?

A: It can be daunting making the decision to invest in professional photography but it is a way to truly celebrate your best friend. Dogs by Carl will provide you with stunning, timeless images of your dog that you will cherish forever. Packages and pricing is transparent. You’ll see that there are options for every budget. Once the shoot is finished and retouched Carl will present the images to you. There will not be a hidden hard sell as it is up to you what you purchase.
